Folklórny súbor Liptov | Folklórny súbor Liptáčik | Základná umelecká škola |
| History |
The folk group was established in 1946, partly as a folk singer group and partly as a folk dance group of factory workers of the Paper Mill "SCP" in Ružomberok, under the patronage of this enterprise. At the beginning of the existence of this group its production was based on the traditional folk customs of its workers, mostly the inhabitants of Liptovské Sliače - a small village near Ružomberok - well-known for its folk architecture, folk songs and dances all over the country. The first leaders of the group were Kliment Ondrejka - the future folklore researcher, writer and screenwriter, and Juraj Kubanka, the future long - lasting chief choreographer of the only professional folk group "SLUK" in Slovakia - both of them students of a secondary school in Ružomberok at that time. In the period from 1949 to 1950 there were about 30 performances given by the group and in 1950 the group became an absolute winner in the regional competition of folk groups.
At the beginning of 1962 Vojtech Littva became a chief choreographer of the group, and under his leading the folk group started the most creative period of its existence. On 2nd February, 1962 the folk group gained its name Liptov - according to the region, in which the group works performing the traditional folk customs of its inhabitants.
In 1967 Liptov had the first performance in France [Lons le Saunier].
In 1971 two of our dancers [ Vojtech Littva and Dusan Domiter] won the prize "The best amateur dancers of Czechoslovakia".
The year of 1973 brought the beginning of "handcraft motive" in our choreography.
In 1979 the group operated under the patronage of the textile factory in Ružomberok and it brought more inspiration and intensive research in country and town folk art. The group became one of the most important folk groups in the country and thanks to its art qualities it was entrusted by the Ministry of Culture of the former Czechoslovak Socialist Republic to take part in the international folk festivals in France in 1983, in Syria in 1984, in Morocco in 1985 and in various other festivals.
After the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia in 1989 there were changes in the organisation structure of the folk group. In 1992 it came under the patronage of the Municipal Committee of Ružomberok and later in 1995 under the patronage of a newly established Cultural and Information Centre of Ružomberok.
From 1983 - 1989 there were some organisation changes in folk group LIPTOV. On 1st January, 2001 our folk group obtained an autonomy and a civil association "FOLK GROUP LIPTOV" was established.
During the long period of the existence of our group a lot of folklore experts and outstanding artists helped to create its present importance and high art level: Kliment Ondrejka - the folklore researcher, writer and screenwriter, Juraj Kubanka, the long - lasting chief choreographer of the only professional folk group "SLUK" in Slovakia, Štefan Nosáľ - the chief choreographer of the most successful partly-professional folk group in the Slovak Republic - "Lúčnica", Alexander Móži - an important musician or Svetozár Stračina - an outstanding music composer, and various others.
In the present time the folk group operates as an independent civil association with a great help of the Municipal Committee of Ružomberok and the enterprise SCP, a. s. Ružomberok (North Slovakian Pulp and Paper Mills, Joint-Stock Company Ružomberok), under the art leading of Vojtech Littva. Igor Littva is the relations manager and the folk music group is led by Peter Rázga.
